How To Purchase a Firearm

We want to make your experience purchasing a firearm from Casual Tactical as simple and easy as possible, but purchasing a firearm online isn't like ordering a shirt or a belt. There are a couple more steps and it requires gathering a little more information from you. So we have compiled some helpful instructions and information here to help make the process as streamline and hassle free as possible. Before You Make A Firearm Purchase Online
There are a few things you should be aware of before you purchase a firearm online from Casual Tactical:
• We cannot ship firearms outside of the United States.
• We cannot ship a firearm directly to you, but we can ship it to your favorite local FFL dealer.
• We do not contact or arrange transfers with FFL dealers. It is your responsibility to find and contact the FFL dealer you want us to transfer your firearm to, and coordinate communication for the transfer. Click here for more FFL information.
• Though you are purchasing the firearm from Casual Tactical, it is the responsibility of your local FFL dealer to process the paperwork and run a background check. There may be additional fees, charged by your local FFL dealer, for these services.
• Not all firearms can be shipped to all states. It is your responsibility to make sure the firearm you are purchasing is legal in your state/county/city. We recommend you do this before placing your order with Casual Tactical to avoid a possible cancellation fee. Your local FFL dealer should be able to help you with this.
• Not all gun magazines can be shipped to all states. If you order a firearm with a magazine that is not legal in your state, the firearm will be shipped without a magazine. No substitutions or customizations will be made. It is your responsibility to make sure the magazine that comes with the firearm you are purchasing is legal in your state/county/city. Check out our restricted items page for more details. We recommend you do this before placing your order with Casual Tactical to avoid a possible cancellation fee. Your local FFL dealer should be able to help you with this.
• All firearm shipments require a signature to verify delivery. So please be sure you have chosen an FFL dealer who is available to sign for packages during regular business hours.
• All firearm sales are final. Once a transfer is complete no return or cancellation can be made.
• The images used on our site are stock images of the type of firearm for sale. It is not an image of the actual firearm you are purchasing.
Ordering Your Firearm Online
To place an order for a firearm simply find the firearm in our online catalog and, if it is available for purchase, add it to your shopping cart. Once you have done this you can proceed with checkout. If you have more shopping to do, you may do that before completing the checkout process.
If you continue shopping so that your order has more than just a firearm on it, that is no problem. Your unregulated (non-firearm) items will be shipped to your billing address, while your firearm will be shipped to the FFL dealer address you provide.
Please note that phone orders are not accepted.
Payment Options And Checkout Process For Your Order
Payment Options
In regards to purchasing a firearm we ONLY accept payment via Visa, MasterCard or Discover credit cards, or Casual Tactical gift certificate. We DO NOT ACCEPT American Express, Paypal, prepaid cards, gift cards, checks, money orders, or wire transfers.
Checkout Process
It is best if you have already discussed the transfer of the firearm you wish to purchase with your local FFL dealer before proceeding with the checkout process.
1. From your shopping cart click the “Proceed To Checkout” button
2. Supply us with your billing and shipping information
• The billing information should be the information associated with your credit card
• The shipping information should be your local FFL dealer information. If you do not have the information from your FFL dealer yet please make the shipping information the same as the billing information.
3. Choose a method of shipping for getting the your firearm to your local FFL dealer
• If your order has more than just a firearm on it the remaining items will be shipped to your billing address using a standard ground service. Expect 7-9 days for delivery.
4. Verify your order looks correct and apply any applicable gift certificates or coupons
5. Select “Credit Card” for type of payment. If you have any notes or special instructions for us you may type them in the optional comment box. Then click “Proceed To Payment”
6. Enter your accurate credit card information and click “Pay For Order”
7. You will be sent an order confirmation notice via email, but you may choose to also print your order information from the completed order page.
8. Have your local FFL dealer email us (sales@casualtactical.com) a copy of their FFL license with your name and order number attached to it. Your name and order number MUST be sent with the FFL dealer license or we will not process the order. We must receive the FFL dealer license within 7 business days of your order placement or your order will be canceled. Cancellation fees may apply. See Cancellations and Changes for further details.
Shipping Your Firearm
When shipping your firearm to your local FFL dealer this is what you can expect:
• We cannot ship firearms outside the United States
• We cannot ship firearms to P.O. Boxes
• We cannot offer special request or custom delivery times
• The cost of shipping will depend on the firearm and where you are shipping it to. When checking out on the website the shopping cart will calculate the shipping for you. You will know before giving us your credit card information how much it will cost to ship your firearm.
• A signature at delivery is required for tracking purposes. Please be sure the FFL dealer you have chosen is available to accept deliveries in person during regular business hours.
• You will receive a tracking number for your firearm, via email, when it ships out from our warehouse.
• Most firearm orders will ship in 3-5 business days, but may take up to 12 days, depending on the state the firearm is being shipped to. The actual delivery time to your local FFL dealer will depend on the shipping method you chose for your order.
Cancellations & Other Changes
We understand that sometimes you change your mind, or have second thoughts. We also know how quickly life changing situations can happen. We will accommodate any cancel or change request we receive to the best of our ability, but there are fees for these requests. This is why we implore you to be 100% sure about your firearm purchase before completing checkout at Casual Tactical. The cancellation and change fees are as follows:
Cancellations:
• $25 service fee if requested within 72 hours of order placement and transfer paperwork has not been started
• $50 service fee if requested within 72 hours of order placement and transfer paperwork has been started
• 10% re-stocking fee + $25 service if requested after 72 hours of order placement and transfer paperwork has not been started
• 10% re-stocking fee + $50 if requested after 72 hours of order placement, transfer paperwork has been started, but firearm has not shipped.
• 10% re-stocking fee if we have to auto cancel your order due to:
- State/county/city law prohibiting us from shipping the firearm
- not hearing from your local FFL dealer within 7 days from order placement
• 15% re-stocking fee if we have to cancel your order because the package was returned to sender due to:
- Incorrect or invalid address
- inability to obtain a signature for delivery
• 20% re-stocking fee + $50 + cost of shipping both directions if firearm has been shipped but the transfer has not been completed. Please note that if the transfer is completed the order cannot be canceled and the firearm cannot be returned. All firearm sales are final.
Order Changes:
Only orders that have not shipped may be changed. If you wish to change the firearm you are purchasing you will be accountable for any price differences plus:
• $25 service fee if requested within 72 hours of order placement and transfer paperwork has not been started
• $50 service fee if requested within 72 hours of order placement and transfer paperwork has been started
• 10% re-stocking fee + $25 service if requested after 72 hours of order placement and transfer paperwork has not been started
• 10% re-stocking fee + $50 if requested after 72 hours of order placement, transfer paperwork has been started, but firearm has not shipped.
FFL Dealer Changes:
Only orders that have not shipped may have the FFL dealer changed.
• $20 service fee if you change the local FFL dealer you are using for the transfer.
FFL Information
All firearm purchases must be shipped to an FFL dealer to facilitate the transfer of the firearm into your name. We will not arrange transfers for you, you must find your own FFL dealer. Finding an FFL dealer can be simple. Anyone legally registered to sell firearms should have an FFL license; this includes: gun stores, gunsmiths, pawn shops, and shooting ranges. Many of these can be found in your local Yellow Pages. Even more convenient is the site, FFLregistry.com, which lets you search online by local area for FFL dealers. Casual Tactical does not endorse or recommend specific FFL dealers. You should find someone in your area you feel comfortable working with, but there are a few things to keep in mind when doing a transfer with your local FFL dealer:
• Your FFL dealer will be required to do a background check on you before transferring the firearm to you. Having a CCW or concealed carry permit may help this process along. If you have one make sure that your FFL dealer knows that. The cost for this background check is usually included in the transfer fees.
• Transfer fees will vary dealer to dealer. We suggest you shop around. This fee is usually between $25-$50.
• Your FFL dealer will only transfer firearms to you that are legal for you to own. So let your FFL dealer know before your purchase what kind of firearm you want to get. They will be able to let you know if it is legal for you to have the firearm you want. This is why we strongly recommend you find an FFL dealer and discuss the transfer with them BEFORE placing your order with Casual Tactical.
• Your FFL dealer will only transfer your firearm to you, the purchaser. You must be the person for whom the background check is run, you must be present at the transfer, and you must be the one filling out the paperwork (form 4473). It is a federal offense to pay for your firearm under one name and have it shipped for another person. This is called a straw purchase.
It is important that your FFL dealer contact us within 7 business days of your order placement. They will need to send us their FFL dealer credentials ALONG WITH your name and order number. If we do not receive this information is 7 business days your firearm purchase will be canceled (cancellation fees may apply). Your FFL dealer should email (sales@casualtactical.com) their FFL credentials and your order information to us.
Legal Disclaimer
Please read all information listed on our web site before purchasing a firearm, so that you are fully informed about warranty, shipping, restrictions, and fees, etc. If you have any question or concern about ordering from Casual Tactical please be sure to contact us before making your purchase.
• As it is a matter of record it is stated here that Casual Tactical has no established testing facility. Therefore, Casual Tactical assumes no liability for the safe functioning of any firearm sold.
• Upon purchase, the buyer assumes all liability and responsibility including but not limited to the usage and safe storage of the purchased firearm.
• The buyer understands that all firearms are potentially dangerous if handled improperly.
• The buyer must be at least 18-21 years of age to purchase any firearm. The general rule is you must be at least 18 to purchase of rifle and at least 21 to purchase a handgun, but this may vary state to state. Please check with your FFL dealer on age requirements in your state.
• The buyer certifies by purchasing a firearm from Casual Tactical that he or she is legally qualified to purchase and own the firearm, that there are no state or local laws preventing ownership of said firearm, and the owner will utilize reasonable safety precautions to prevent accidents, i.e. a trigger lock and/or a gun safe.
